DAYTON, OH (Sept.12, 2013) -- Marking its first full year of innovative collaborative programming, the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance (DPAA) will hold its Inaugural Gala event on Saturday, October 5, 2013 from 6 to11:30 p.m. in Dayton’s beautiful Benjamin and Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center. The black tie event brings together all that is special about the three arts organizations making up the DPAA -- Dayton Ballet, Dayton Opera and Dayton Philharmonic -- weaving them into a one-of-a-kind experience as special and groundbreaking as the DPAA itself.

Its charter formalized in July 2012, the DPAA is the first non-profit organizations in the U.S. to simultaneously manage a symphony orchestra, an opera company and a ballet company while still maintaining the individuality of the three art forms. All three artistic organizations have maintained their distinct identities while uniting to create enhanced programming. The Inaugural Gala will showcase these distinct identities and demonstrate how they work together to produce an evening to remember.

The evening’s theme, A Little Night Music, sets the stage for the joining of dance, instrumental and vocal performance. Tenor Scott Piper brings a pop sensibility to the Gala with From Italy with Love in the Amore Lounge of the Mathile Theatre. The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bob Gray Orchestra play dance music from swing and jazz to ballroom and disco on the Mead Theatre stage. A unique ballet duet performed by Annalise Woller and Case Bodamer from the Dayton Ballet rounds out the evening’s performances. Even the menu showcases the DPAA’s season with the Nutcracker Sweets dessert stations offering a tasty preview of the new costumes being designed for the coming season’s all new production of The Nutcracker and specially designed martinis representing the three organizations that make up the DPAA.

Join the DPAA for this first-ever Gala in an evening of music, dinner, drinks and dance. Patron tickets are $275 per person and Grand Patron tickets are $450 per person. Online registration is available at daytonperformingarts.org/gala. For more information, call 937-224-3521, ext. 1112. This is a vitally important fundraiser for the DPAA, but also one more in a series of glorious firsts by an organization that epitomizes the innovative and can-do spirit of Dayton.

About the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance

The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance was formed in July 2012 as the result of a groundbreaking and innovative merger between the Dayton Ballet, the Dayton Opera, and the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. Together, they are the largest performing arts organization in the community, offering a tremendous variety of performance and education programs and setting a new standard for artistic excellence.  Dayton Performing Arts Alliance performances are made possible in part by Montgomery County and Culture Works, the single largest source of community funds for the arts and culture in the Miami Valley. The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance also receives partial funding from the Ohio Arts Council, a state agency created to foster and encourage the development of the arts and to preserve Ohio's cultural heritage. Funding from the Ohio Arts Council is an investment of state tax dollars that promotes economic growth, educational excellence, and cultural enrichment for all Ohio residents.  The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance is proud to be one of five performing arts organizations in the country selected to receive a three-year "Music Alive" grant from New Music USA and the League of American Orchestras.
