Dayton Philharmonic Junior Strings

Kara Manteufel Camfield conductor

About the Orchestra
The Dayton Philharmonic Junior Strings was formed in 2014 in response to requests from string teachers and music educators for an orchestra that would encourage young string players not quite ready for the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Strings. From its inaugural season, the orchestra has grown from 31 to 45 string players from 28 area schools. The goal of this orchestra is to provide an opportunity for students to further develop their musical skills while learning to work together with other string players in an ensemble.

About the Conductor
Kara Manteufel Camfield has been a member of the second violin section of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra since 2006. Ms. Camfield is also a member of the Dayton Philharmonic String Quartet, which presents in-school programs to primary-age students, and is a teaching artist with SPARK (School Partners with Artists Reaching Kids). She is an adjunct professor of violin at the University of Dayton and teaches privately.
