DAYTON, OH (March 21, 2016) – On Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 8 p.m. in the Mead Theatre of the Schuster Center, the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Conductor Patrick Reynolds, will present The Magic of Motown, the fourth concert in the 2015–2016 Dayton Freight Rockin’ Orchestra Series. Dayton Philharmonic welcomes to the stage The Motortown All-Stars for a nostalgic night of the very best of the Motown Sound.  Associate Sponsor for this concert is Miller-Valentine Group.

The Motown Sound was called the sound of young America, but it became the soundtrack of the lives of generations around the world for more than 50 years. The Motown catalog includes some of the most enduring songs in popular music, with the most universal appeal of any musical form. Motown music has such strong musical hooks that it has been used repeatedly in everything from movie soundtracks to commercials for the last 50 years, providing some of the most recognizable songs in music history.

The Motortown All-Stars is an all-star lineup of world-class vocalists drawn from the ranks of the legendary groups that made many of these hits timeless classics. This dynamic vocal group is assembled from members of The Capitols (“Cool Jerk”), The Miracles (Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Hollywood Walk of Fame Inductees) and former members of The Temptations.

The Motortown All-Stars’ members—David Finley, Charles Franklin, Condido Lomax, and George Wilson—take the stage to perform all of the greatest hits from the likes of The Temptations, The Miracles, The Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, The Supremes, The Jackson 5, and Stevie Wonder. Every performance contains that unmistakable Motown stamp, including flashy suits, great singing and dancing, and a polished show that has set the bar for every vocal artist since the late 1950s. The show is jam-packed with impeccable harmonies, dazzling choreography, and those timeless Motown grooves that everyone knows and loves.

Concertgoers will be dancing in the aisles when the Motortown All-Stars join the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra for a magical night of Motown harmony.

Tickets for The Magic of Motown range from $29 to $81 and are available at Ticket Center Stage (937) 228-3630 or online at www.daytonperformingarts.org.  Senior, teacher, student, and military discounts are available at the box office. For more information on the concert of on other upcoming performances by Dayton Philharmonic, Dayton Opera and Dayton Ballet, visit www.daytonperformingarts.org.

About the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance

The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance was formed in July 2012 as the result of a groundbreaking and innovative merger between the Dayton Ballet, the Dayton Opera, and the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. Together, they are the largest performing arts organization in the community, offering a tremendous variety of performance and education programs and setting a new standard for artistic excellence.  Dayton Performing Arts Alliance performances are made possible in part by Montgomery County and Culture Works, the single largest source of community funds for the arts and culture in the Miami Valley. The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance also receives partial funding from the Ohio Arts Council, a state agency created to foster and encourage the development of the arts and to preserve Ohio's cultural heritage. Funding from the Ohio Arts Council is an investment of state tax dollars that promotes economic growth, educational excellence, and cultural enrichment for all Ohio residents.  The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance is proud to be one of five performing arts organizations in the country selected to receive a three-year "Music Alive" grant from New Music USA and the League of American Orchestras.
