DAYTON, OH (October 3, 2017) -- Celebrating a lustrum (five year period) of innovation and creativity, the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance (DPAA) will hold its fifth annual Gala event on Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. in Dayton’s beautiful Benjamin and Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center. The black-tie event brings together all that is special about the three arts organizations comprising the DPAA -- Dayton Ballet, Dayton Opera and Dayton Philharmonic -- weaving them into a one-of-a-kind experience as special and groundbreaking as the DPAA itself. The largest annual fundraiser for the DPAA anticipates another sold-out event with 450 guests in attendance.

Its charter formalized in July 2012, the DPAA is the first nonprofit organization in the U.S. to simultaneously manage a symphony orchestra, an opera company and a ballet company while still maintaining the individuality of the three art forms. All three artistic organizations have maintained their distinct identities while uniting to create enhanced programming. The Gala will showcase these distinct identities and demonstrate how they work together to produce an evening to remember.

Glitz, Glamour, Gatsby, and Gershwin, a theme hearkening back to the Roaring Twenties, sets the stage for a delightful evening of dance, instrumental and vocal performance.  Attendees are invited to a dinner of delectable cuisine with good friends, accompanied by specialty cocktails fitting to the theme and unique silent auction offerings.  Guests can dance and laugh the night away in the Speakeasy with Dayton favorites This Side Up.

The following is the schedule of events planned for this fabulous night of celebration:
  • 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.: Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, silent auction
  • 6:00 to 10:00 p.m.: Silent auction
  • 7:00 p.m.: Special one-night-only performance by Dayton Ballet, Dayton Opera, and Dayton Philharmonic in the Mead Theatre
  • 8:00 p.m.: Seated dinner in the Wintergarden
  • 9:15 to 11:30 p.m.: Speakeasy and dancing on the Mead Theatre Stage to This Side Up

About the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance
The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance was formed in July 2012 as the result of a groundbreaking and innovative merger between the Dayton Ballet, the Dayton Opera, and the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. Together, they are the largest performing arts organization in the community, offering a tremendous variety of performance and education programs and setting a new standard for artistic excellence.  Dayton Performing Arts Alliance performances are made possible in part by Montgomery County and Culture Works, the single largest source of community funds for the arts and culture in the Miami Valley. The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance also receives partial funding from the Ohio Arts Council, a state agency created to foster and encourage the development of the arts and to preserve Ohio's cultural heritage. Funding from the Ohio Arts Council is an investment of state tax dollars that promotes economic growth, educational excellence, and cultural enrichment for all Ohio residents. In 2013, The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance was thrilled to be one of five performing arts organizations in the country selected to receive a three-year "Music Alive" grant from New Music USA and the League of American Orchestras. The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance is the proud recipient of a 2017-2018 Art Works grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
