From cozying up next to the fireplace to sharing what you love with the ones you love, the holidays are a special time of year for all ages.

At the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance, we have a variety of performances and events that will make your spirit bright. Explore our seasonal offerings and deals below! We hope to see you and yours at a performance this holiday season.

 


Holiday Pops

December 3 and 4 • 8 PM

The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra celebration of the holiday season! Taking center stage with the DPO is Shayna Steele, who visits Dayton from the Big Apple to jazz up the holidays in the Gem City with favorite carols and dazzling holiday classics.

DPYO Winter Concert

December 5 • 3 PM

The Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra brings together the greater Dayton area’s most gifted young musicians, providing the opportunity to study and perform orchestra repertoire. Join them for their annual Winter Concert featuring old and new classics.

Bach’s Lunch

December 10 • 10 AM and 12 PM

The Carillon Brass returns to The Loft Theatre for their annual holiday concert. Featuring your favorite traditional holiday songs alongside standard repertoire for brass ensembles, this is a lighthearted and fun performance sure to make your spirits bright. 


The Nutcracker

December 10-12 • Weekend 1

Join Clara as she drifts into restless slumber amidst tiny tin soldiers and menacing rodents, floats dreamily among the snowflakes, and is escorted to the Land of Sweets. This is a performance great for kids of all ages! 

Handel’s Messiah

December 15 •7 PM

Relocated to the Schuster Center, enjoy an annual holiday tradition under the twinkling lights of the Mead Theatre. This angelic piece is performed by the Dayton Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, Dayton Philharmonic Chamber Choir.

The Nutcracker

December 17-19 • Weekend 2

Join the Dayton Ballet for the second weekend of performances of The Nutcracker. Clara drifts off into a restless sleep where she discovers the Land of Sweets and she meets the sparkling Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier.


The Nutcracker, Sensory Friendly

December 17 • 2 PM

Enjoy the annual tradition of The Nutcracker, in a sensory-friendly environment. This performance is designed especially for children and adults with autism spectrum disorder, sensory sensitivities, or other special needs.

Concert Nights with Discover Classical

December 26 • 8 PM

Tune in to WDPR 88.1 FM Discover Classical to hear a rebroadcast of the Dayton Philharmonic’s New Year’s Eve Concert from 2019, featuring classical works that celebrate the turning over of a new leaf and a preview of our upcoming performances in 2022.

New Year’s Eve: Return to Vienna

December 31 • 8 PM

Ring in the New Year with the most anticipated musical event in Dayton that has made the Schuster Center the place to be on New Year’s Eve. Featuring the Ballet, Philharmonic, and Opera, enjoy a celebratory night out on the town celebrating the arrival of 2022.
