Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra Music Director to describe upcoming “musical” tour of Bohemia, Germany, Argentina, and Scotland
In what might be described as a musical geography lesson, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra Music Director Neal Gittleman will host a discussion at Books & Company on March 11 at 2 pm. The subject is the music the DPO will perform in two upcoming concert series, the Demirjian Chamber Orchestra Series concert on Friday, March 17 and the Classical Concert Series on Friday and Saturday, March 24 and 25.
And geography is very much the key to both.
The Chamber Orchestra concert features music of composers from Bohemia, Germany, and Argentina, and the Classical concert pays tribute to Scotland, with the music of Maxwell Davies, Max Bruch, and Felix Mendelssohn.
This marks the second year that Books &Company has hosted the free Classical Coffee Klatch, during which – in a casual setting – Neal will talk in depth about the music featured in the upcoming concerts, field questions from attendees, and hold a free raffle for a Dayton Philharmonic CD.
Books &Company is located in the Town and Country Shopping Center on Stroop Road in Kettering.
