DAYTON, OH (March 17, 2017) – On Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. in the Northwest Loggia of the Sinclair College Library, 444 W. Third St., Dayton, Ohio,  the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance will present “A Taste of the Arts.” Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra Concertmaster Jessica Hung and Guest Violinist Yevgeny Kutik will present a lovely chamber music program, which will be followed by an artist meet-and-greet and a town hall–style conversation about the arts. This event is free and open to the public.

This program is an exciting collaboration between Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra (DPO) and Sinclair College, with the aim of engaging the campus population in a taste of classical music and sparking an afternoon of conversation about the arts. This performance will shine a spotlight on DPO Concertmaster Jessica Hung and guest violinist Yevgeny Kutik.

Jessica Hung has served as Concertmaster of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra for nine years, having become one of the youngest concertmasters in the nation when she was appointed to the role in 2008. Ms. Hung has served as adjunct faculty at the University of Dayton and mentored for the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, the Centerville Schools Orchestra Program, and the Piano Preparatory School in Beavercreek.  She is a graduate of Northwestern University and the Cleveland Institute of Music.

Guest violinist Yevgeny Kutik will be joining the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra for this performance and for two performances of Reflections and Images, the fifth concert in the DPAA Premier Health 2016-2017 Masterworks Series, on Friday, March 24 and Saturday, March 25. Mr. Kutik debuted in 2003, winning first place in the Boston Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Competition. He is known for his technical precision and virtuosity on the violin and has performed with symphony orchestras around the world. Kutik has released two albums, Songs of Defiance and Music from the Suitcase: A Collection of Russian Miniatures. A native of Minsk, Belarus, Mr. Kutik immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of five.

Directly following the performance, the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance will hold a friendly, casual Community Conversation to hear what Sinclair College students and staff, as well as members of the greater Dayton community, think about the arts and cultural scene in general and the Dayton Ballet, Dayton Opera and Dayton Philharmonic in particular.

About the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance
The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance was formed in July 2012 as the result of a groundbreaking and innovative merger between the Dayton Ballet, the Dayton Opera, and the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. Together, they are the largest performing arts organization in the community, offering a tremendous variety of performance and education programs and setting a new standard for artistic excellence.  Dayton Performing Arts Alliance performances are made possible in part by Montgomery County and Culture Works, the single largest source of community funds for the arts and culture in the Miami Valley. The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance also receives partial funding from the Ohio Arts Council, a state agency created to foster and encourage the development of the arts and to preserve Ohio's cultural heritage. Funding from the Ohio Arts Council is an investment of state tax dollars that promotes economic growth, educational excellence, and cultural enrichment for all Ohio residents.  The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance is proud to be one of five performing arts organizations in the country selected to receive a three-year "Music Alive" grant from New Music USA and the League of American Orchestras.
