DAYTON OH (January 25, 2010) – On Sunday, February 7, 2010 at 3 pm in the Schuster Center, the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and conductor Patrick Reynolds join guest artists Cirque de la Symphonie for an afternoon of amazing family fun as they present “The Magic of Cirque,” the 2nd concert in the DPO’s 09-10 DP&L Family Series.
Cirque de la Symphonie is a new production formed to bring the magic of cirque to the concert hall. It is an exciting adaptation of performances by many of the best cirque artists in the world, including aerial flyers, acrobats, contortionists, clowns, and jugglers. Cirque de la Symphonie’s first concert with the DPO concert (May 2009) played to a packed house, prompting their immediate re-engagement for this concert.
Maestro Reynolds and the young musicians of the DPYO will accompany the Cirque artists with a varied program of orchestral favorites including music from Bizet’s Carmen, Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, and John Williams’s score for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
