On August 7 at 7 PM, The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra Concert Band will make the rafters at Normandy Church ring with the works of a wide variety of musical masters. Patrick Reynolds will conduct, as the band performs everything from the classics to Broadway show tunes, with a dose of Americana for good measure.
The program opens with Colas Breugnon Overture by Kabalevsky. Scenes from the Louvre by Dello Joio is next, followed by the Suite in E Flat by Gustav Holst, the American Civil War Fantasy by Bilik, and the Lads of Wamphray March by Grainger.
Following intermission, the DPO Concert Band concludes with the Overture to Candide (Leonard Bernstein), Selections from Miss Saigon (Schoenberg), Selections from Porgy and Bess (Gershwin), America the Beautiful (Ward), and Stars and Stripes Forever (Sousa).
The recital is open to the public and free of charge.
Normandy Church is located at 450 W. Alex-Bell Road in Centerville.
