DAYTON OH – On Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 3 pm in the Schuster Center, the area’s largest musical Halloween celebration – PhilharMonster – returns, as the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and Music Director Neal Gittleman open the 09-10 DP&L Family Series with an array of spooky musical treats.
Maestro Gittleman will lead a costumed Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra through a program that includes Robert Wendel’s Ride of the Headless Horseman, Richard Meyer’s Rosin-Eating Zombies from Outer Space, and Igor Stravinsky’s Suite from The Firebird, featuring Human Race Theatre Company Resident Artist Katie Pees as narrator. The program concludes with music from John Williams’score for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
Neal has a tradition of wearing some rather elaborate costumes of his own at the PhilharMonster concert. What will he be this year? We can’t say – we’re sworn to secrecy, but audiences are sure to be amazed!
