p>DAYTON, OH (October 31, 2011) – The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra will present the first concert in the 2011-2012 edition of the Graeter’s Symphony Sundaes Series presented by One Call Now with a performance on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at 3 p.m. in the Scottish Rite Auditorium of the Dayton Masonic Center. Neal Gittleman, Music Director of the DPO, will conduct.
The 11-12 Symphony Series will celebrate the music of Ludwig van Beethoven, with a major Beethoven work on each of the four concerts. The November 13 concert will include Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with soloists Jessica Hung, Concertmaster of the DPO; Andra Padrichelli, Principal Cellist of the DPO; and Joshua Nemith, Principal Keyboardist of the DPO. Also on the program: the Orchestra Suite No. 1 in C Major by Johann Sebastian Bach.
The Symphony Sundaes concerts were designed to add a new, family-friendly series to the DPO’s annual lineup. With individual concert tickets starting at $14, the series brings the DPO and conductor Neal Gittleman to the intimate space of the Scottish Rite Auditorium at the Masonic Center to perform works from the great classical masters. The programs are performed without intermission and last about 85 minutes each.
There’s plenty of free parking available, and each concert is followed by an ice cream social with the musicians, featuring a complimentary scoop of Graeter’s ice cream for each concertgoer. Other concerts in this year’s series will be held on January 22, February 19, and April 1, 2012.
