Saturday, December 13 performance at 7 pm in Westminster Presbyterian Church continues Winter Holiday Season
On Saturday, December 13 at 7 pm in Westminster Presbyterian Church in downtown Dayton, the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra presents Handel’s Messiah This is the third of six Special Events in the 2008-2009 Colours Season and the DPO’s Winter Holiday Season.
Soprano Diana Cataldi, alto Kathleen Maurer, tenor Vincent Davis, baritone William Henry Caldwell, and the Dayton Philharmonic Chamber Choir (Hank Dahlman chorus director) join the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and Music Director Neal Gittleman in a presentation of a perennial favorite and one of the most beloved oratorios of all time. It’s Handel’s beautiful statement of faith, Messiah. Despite Handel’s fame as London’s leading musical personality, his oratorio Messiah premiered in Dublin, Ireland in 1742 to tremendous acclaim. The Dublin Journal gushed, “The Sublime, the Grand, and the Tender, adapted to the most elevated, majestick and moving Words, conspired to transport and charm the ravished Heart and Ear.”
