DAYTON, OH (January 25, 2012) – The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra will continue its 2011-2012 “Rockin’ Orchestra” series with The Music of Pink Floyd featuring rock ensemble Windborne on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 8 p.m. in the Schuster Center.
Legendary British rockers Pink Floyd truly explored the outer edge, combining trippy rock with a psychological slant and couching it in a new conceptual richness. Their monster hit album Dark Side of the Moon appealed to the sensitivities of the era while delving into deeper recesses of the mind. Released in March 1973, Dark Side of the Moon remained on Billboard Charts for the next 15 years, setting the all-time record with 741 total weeks on the charts. Rock ensemble Windborne will bring the full glory of Floyd’s sound to the Mead Theatre stage, deftly melding rock with orchestra in a setting of mesmerizing visual effects.
