DAYTON, OH (October 31, 2011) – The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra launches the 2nd year of its new “Rockin’ Orchestra” series with Three Dog Night: Live With Orchestra on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 8 p.m. in the Schuster Center.
Fabulous song stylists Three Dog Night created superb harmonies and arrangements to the words and melodies of Laura Nyro, Randy Newman, Harry Nilsson, and many other fast-rising songwriters of the seventies. Their hits “One,” “Eli’s Coming,” “Celebrate,” “Joy to the World,” and many others, consistently topped the charts from 1969-1975. During this period Three Dog Night was undoubtedly the most popular band in America, with twenty-one consecutive Top 40 hits and twelve straight gold LPs. By late 1975, they had sold nearly 50 million records.
The November 12 concert offers the opportunity to experience the original group, backed by the DPO, for an electric Rockin’ Orchestra season kickoff.
