Sunday, April 20, 3 pm concert at the Schuster Center features DPO and Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra Side-By-Side
On Sunday, April 20 at 3 pm in the Schuster Center, Music Director Neal Gittleman and the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra join with Patrick Reynolds, DPO Assistant Conductor and Conductor of the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra in a concert program that spotlights the works of Glinka, Copland, Beethoven, and Mussorgsky.
In this Side-by-Side Concert featuring the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, both orchestras trade interpretations and insights revealing the power of music. Highlighting the storytelling qualities of music, the conductors as well as members of the DPYO will guide the audience through a program of famous and exciting musical stories. Music will include Glinka’s Ruslan and Lyudmilla, Copland’s John Henry, Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, Mussorgsky – Khovanschina’s Prelude, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Snow Maiden, and Shostakovich’s Festive Overture.
