The music of film composer John Williams will be the focus of a two-week-long Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra celebration that starts Sunday, March 18 and includes:
A special showing of Raiders of the Lost Ark at the Neon Movies on Sunday, March 18. People with tickets to the Friday, March 30 and Saturday, March 31 Chase SuperPops concert Heroes and Villains will receive a half-price discount ticket on a first-come, first-seated basis to the Neon Movies special showings at 3 pm and 5:20 pm
A John Williams Heroes and Villains Book Fair at Barnes & Noble from March 27 through March 31
In the Schuster Center:
Friday evening, March 30, the Oakwood High School Concert Band, Ron Nelson, Director, will perform a free program on the DP&L Stage in the Schuster Center Wintergarden
A display of movie posters from films for which Williams composed the scores, some of which the DPO will perform during the concert – Raiders of the Lost Ark, Saving Private Ryan, Hook, Superman, Far and Away, The Terminal, Schindler’s List, Star Wars, and a Star Wars III poster donated by Bell, Book & Comics
An appearance on Saturday evening , March 31 by members of the 501st Ohio Garrison Star Wars Storm Troopers
A costume contest on Saturday evening, March 31 with local celebrities and civic leaders judging.
