Composed of students from 28 Greater Dayton Area schools, DPYO presents music of Wagner, Schubert, and Strauss
On May 13 at 3 pm in the Schuster Center, Patrick Reynolds – Assistant Conductor of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra – will lead the 92 members of the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra in a program that will showcase the talents and musical abilities of some of the area’s best young musicians.
The program opens with Richard Wagner’s Prelude to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, followed by two movements of Franz Schubert’s “Unfinished” Symphony No. 8 in B minor. The program ends with Johann Strauss, Jr.’s On the Beautiful Blue Danube.
“The DPYO is an orchestra that our entire region can be proud of,” Reynolds states. “Its high quality says tremendous things about the state of music education in the Greater Dayton Area.”
Tickets are $5.00 at the door, or call the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra office at (937) 224-3521, x-136.
