Dayton, Ohio (February 16, 2009) – On Sunday March 1 at 3 pm in the Schuster Center, Conductor Patrick Reynolds and the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra present the second Dayton Power & Light Family Series concert, Bach to the Future. Imagine coming face-to-face with some of history’s most fascinating composers – Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Dvo?ák, Shostakovich! In this theatrical symphony concert, the audience does just that, flying through space and time on the coattails of young Corky, as she attempts to recreate the musical formula that will bring a happy ending to a time travel experiment gone awry. Members of Canada’s Platypus Theatre present a program for children that brings classical music to life in an intelligent, entertaining, and interactive way.
The program, which consists entirely of excerpted movements, begins with J.S. Bach’s Suite Nos. 1 and 3, followed by Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 (the Jupiter), Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 and Leonore Overture No. 3, Dvorák’s New World Symphony and Slavonic Dance No. 8, Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5, and Ridout’s Fall Fair.
Tickets $10 – $17. Series sponsored by Dayton Power & Light.
