Dayton, OH (April 27, 2010) – On May 9 at 3:00 pm, the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra will present its Spring Concert in the Schuster Center, the last in the Orchestra’s 2009-2010 Season,.
This exciting program will feature Emmanuel Chabrier’s colorful España, Felix Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture, Tales from the Vienna Woods by Johann Strauss, Jr. and Aaron Copland’s suite from the classically American ballet Billy the Kid.
DPYO conductor Patrick Reynolds describes this concert as a “program that is music about ‘places,’ that is, music that is set in a certain locale or is closely associated with a country, region, or city. I love this repertoire and I especially enjoy concerts with ‘themes.’ These pieces have a natural connection and are a great opportunity for the DPYO to showcase their talents.”
The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra is proud to support the talented young musicians of the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. DPO Education Director Gloria Pugh states, “This dedicated group consistently present concerts that are exciting and inspiring. I encourage anyone who has not had the privilege to hear the DPYO perform to attend the May 9 Spring Concert. It will be an exhilarating afternoon.”
Tickets: $6.00 at the door, or to order tickets call the DPO Education Department (937) 224-3521, x136.
