p>DAYTON OH (November 21, 2011) –The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra’s 2011-2012 Kettering Health Network SuperPops Series will continue with holiday pops concerts titled “Radio Holly Days” with the acclaimed jazz singing group Five by Design on Friday and Saturday, December 2 & 3, 8 p.m. both nights at the Schuster Center. Neal Gittleman, Music Director of the DPO, will conduct.
Few, if any, performing groups have matched Five by Design’s vitality, innovation, and total grasp of an impressive variety of musical and dramatic idioms. They have appeared with over 200 symphony orchestras. For these shows, on the 70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor (which happened over the holidays in 1941) the group will re-create a radio studio setting of the 1940s big-band era, with all the great music, newsy inserts, commercials and comedic antics typical of the time. Christmas music of the era will include tunes like “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “White Christmas,” “Winter Wonderland,” and a dozen additional holiday favorites
Tickets for the December 2-3 concerts range from $23 – $76 and are available by calling (888) 228-3630 or by ordering on the web at www.daytonphilharmonic.com. Senior prices are $10 off regular prices in areas B-D; student prices are 50% off regular prices in areas B-D
The Dayton Philharmonic’s 2011-2012 SuperPops Series is sponsored by Kettering Health Network.
