“Jazz Dreams” features Grammy® Award-Winning pianist/vocalist in a concert performance of great jazz
On Friday and Saturday evenings, May 9 and 10 at 8 pm in the Schuster Center, the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and Music Director Neal Gittleman will present Jazz Dreams, a concert performance of jazz greats by Grammy® Award-Winning pianist/vocalist Diane Schuur and her trio, bassist Scott Steed, drummer Reggie Jackson, and guitarist Dan Balmer.
Known for her three-and-a-half octave vocal range, Diane Schuur began her remarkable professional career at age nine. Both her vocal and instrumental talent have garnered praise from such legendary musicians as Dizzy Gillespie, Count Basie, and B.B. King. She has earned nominations for five – and received two – Grammy® Awards for Best Jazz Vocalist.
Schuur has toured the world headlining it’s most prestigious music venues, performed with many twentieth-century jazz greats, and appeared countless times on The Tonight Show, at The Grammy’s, and at the White House. Schuur has released her second live album, Diane Schuur: Live In London, her first release on the GR2 Classics label and her 20th album, which epitomizes the passion, humor, and power of Diane’s live performance.
