DAYTON OH (December 30, 2009) – The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra’s 09-10 Miami Valley & Good Samaritan Hospitals Classical Series continues with Lise meets Liszt, featuring soloist Lise de la Salle, on Thursday and Saturday, January 7 & 9, 2010, both performances at 8 p.m. at the Schuster Center.
French pianist Lise de la Salle, just 21 years old, made a huge impression in Dayton with her February 2008 Philharmonic debut. She was immediately re-engaged for the 09-10 season to perform the flamboyant Piano Concerto No. 1 by Franz Liszt. The combination of this dynamic young artist and a legendary work will thunder onto the Schuster Center stage with all the fervor of the archetypal Romantic hero.
Also on the program: Wagner’s Faust Overture and the epic Symphony No. 3 by his disciple, Anton Bruckner. Neal Gittleman, Music Director of the DPO, will conduct. If you enjoy the rich sound and emotional fervor of music’s Romantic period, this is the concert for you!
Tickets for the concerts of January 7 & 9 range from $12 – $59 and are available by calling (888) 228-3630 or by ordering on the web at www.daytonphilharmonic.com.
The Dayton Philharmonic’s 2009-2010 Classical Series is sponsored by Miami Valley & Good Samaritan Hospitals. Lise de la Salle is the 2009-2010 Season Erma R. and Hampden W. Catterton Endowed Guest Artist. The DPO’s weekend concert sponsor is FORGE.
