LYNDA CARTER LIGHTS UP DPO POPS OPENER

DAYTON OH (October 21-2011) – The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra’s 2011-2012 Kettering Health Network SuperPops Series will open with concerts featuring actress and singer Lynda Carter on Friday and Saturday, November 4 & 5, 8 p.m. both nights at the Schuster Center.

Although she’s best known as TV’s “Wonder Woman” and as Miss World USA, the core of Lynda Carter’s career has always been singing and songwriting. A native Arizonan, she started her vocal career in high school, even opening with her band in Las Vegas at the tender age of 17 (being under 21, she had to enter the casinos through the kitchen). Besides the hit Wonder Woman TV show, which ran from 1975-1979, first on ABC and then later on CBS, her roles have spanned 8 movie and 27 television roles. Her recent 2009 studio CD, At Last, has garnered widespread acclaim. Her repertoire ranges widely across Swing, Motown, Sixties Rock & Pop, Romantic Standards and her own songs.  Her concerts in Dayton will seamlessly blend her own top-notch backing band with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Neal Gittleman.

Tickets for the November 4-5 concerts range from $23 – $76 and are available by calling (888) 228-3630 or by ordering on the web at www.daytonphilharmonic.com.

The Dayton Philharmonic’s 2011-2012 SuperPops Series is sponsored by Kettering Health Network.   The performance of Saturday, November 5 is the 2011-2012 season Culture Works Recognition Night.
