Dayton Philharmonic Principal Quartet to perform works by Mozart, Schubert at free recital
On Sunday March 5, at 3pm, the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra (DPO) Principal Quartet will perform in a free recital at Ginghamsburg Church, 6759 South County Road 25A, in Tipp City, Ohio.
The first of six free concerts known collectively as Amadeus Unbound given at Greater Dayton and Northern Cincinnati area venues, the Tipp City recital is part of the NCR Miracle of Mozart Festival, the DPO’s celebration of the 250th birthday of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The DPO Principal Quartet will perform Mozart’s String Quartet in C major K. 465 (Dissonance), Mozart’s String Quartet in B-flat major K. 589 (Prussian), and Schubert’s String Quartet in A minor D. 804 (Rosamunde). The festival includes free community events such as this one, as well as a Mozart Piano Concerto Series and regular classical season concerts.
The DPO Principal Quartet consists of DPO Concertmaster Lucas Alemán, Principal Second Violinist Kirstin Greenlaw, Principal Violist Sheridan Kamberger Currie, and Principal Cellist Andra Lunde Padrichelli.
The Amadeus Unbound part of the festival is designed to “…take Mozart out for a ‘free ride,’ so everyone in the area can experience the amazing variety and majesty of the great composer’s work,” says Neal Gittleman, DPO Music Director, who will act as host for this recital.
The recital will be followed by a reception with the DPO Principal Quartet. For more information, call the DPO business office at 937-224-3521. A full calendar is available at: http://www.daytonphilharmonic.com/content.jsp?articleId=311
