*Dayton Opera debut

Finding Wright is a new opera and first ever full-length opera commissioned for and presented by Dayton Opera. It will mark the culmination of Dayton Opera Artistic Director Thomas Bankston’s 25-season career in Dayton and will be the concluding production in the company’s 60th Anniversary Season. The unique creative team working on this new opera are four women who are among the most talented artists on today’s opera scene.

Finding Wright traces parallel narrative threads that begin with the discovery of the exceptional Katharine Wright, younger sister of men-of-flight Orville and Wilbur Wright, by 21st century Charlotte (Charlie) Tyler, a young, recently widowed, aerospace engineer and academic. As Charlie learns more about the extraordinary events of Katharine’s life, she finds a path toward understanding, connection, and healing.
