Halloween wouldn’t be complete without a family trip downtown for PhilharMonster, and the Dayton Philharmonic is thrilled to welcome families back to the Schuster Center for this much-anticipated seasonal delight. Maestro Neal Gittleman has once again combed through his music archives for the spookiest-sounding tunes, which are not only fun for young people but also introduce them to the excitement and wonders of the world of classical music.

As is the costume custom, everyone is encouraged to come dressed in their Halloween finest. Even some of the orchestra members will be showing off their costume creativity! And Maestro Gittleman is thrilled to be returning to the stage dressed as…..well, even we don’t know how he plans to arrive. In past years, he has taken the stage as SpongeBob Square Pants, George Washington, Princess Leia, Tom Cruise/Ethan Hunt from Mission: Impossible, Yoda, and in 2019, for our last PhilharMonster Concert before the pandemic, he arrived as a conductor—a train conductor that is! This year, as always, his costume choice is Top Secret—you’ll have to be there in person to see for yourselves!

Due to COVID-19, the DPO is unable to present its typical pre-concert activities in the Wintergarden. However, all young audience members are encouraged to pick up one of the grab-and-go craft and coloring activities which will be available in the lobby before the concert.

The DPO welcomes all of Dayton, the young and the young-at-heart, for the Halloween bash of the season!
