Sunday May 28, 5 pm concert at Carillon Park features work with text from six different patriotic sources
On Sunday, May 28 at 5 pm at Carillon Park, Herbert Martin D.A. – Professor Emeritus, Department of English, University of Dayton will provide accompanying narration to the score of Liberty for All, a work by James A. Beckel Jr., adjunct professor of trombone and euphonium in the DePauw University School of Music and principal trombonist with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
Liberty for All is a grand, rousing piece for narrator and orchestra. Dr. Martin will narrate texts from Patrick Henry, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln. John F. Kennedy, the U.S. Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and the anthem My Country ‘Tis of Thee.
While there, guests are encouraged to visit the Park’s 25 historical buildings and interact with the exhibits. It’s a great way to learn about the area’s history and heritage, and – for Sunday, May 28 ONLY – admission to the buildings is FREE. Gates open at 12 noon.
