Canadian Brass, the world’s preeminent brass quintet—which now includes former DPO Trumpeter and the second-ever woman to join the group, Ashley Hall-Tighe—returns to the Schuster Center to delight audiences!
DAYTON, OH (Nov. 20, 2023)- Dayton Performing Arts Alliance presents Holiday Pops with Canadian Brass, part of the SuperPops Series in the 2023-24 AEO Ohio Foundation “Art that Moves” season. With an international reputation as “The World’s Most Famous Brass Group,” Canadian Brass joins the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra to perform traditional holiday and classical favorites arranged for brass . The ensemble includes new member Ashley Hall-Tighe, former Dayton Philharmonic Trumpeter, who is the second female member in the group’s history. Holiday Pops with Canadian Brass performs on December 2 at 7:30 pm at the Schuster Center. “What a thrill to share the stage with the Canadian Brass,” said Patrick Reynolds, Dayton Philharmonic Associate Conductor. “I’ve been a fan since my earliest years as a trumpet player. They’re immensely talented virtuoso performers and hilariously entertaining on stage. It’s going to be a great show and a wonderful way to ring in the holiday season.”
“It’s a special treat knowing that one of “our own” has become the newest member of the world-famous Canadian Brass,” continues Reynolds. “Trumpeter Ashley Hall-Tighe served as a member of our DPO trumpet section and followed me as the trumpet teacher at the University of Dayton. We’re tremendously proud of Ashley and excited to share the stage with her again.”
Audiences will enjoy the spirit and sparkle of Canadian Brass with their original arrangements and signature takes on beloved holiday classics, performed with the fabulous sound and top-notch showmanship that has earned them a loyal legion of fans worldwide. The ensemble includes Hall-Tighe, Joe Burgstaller (trumpet), Jeff Nelson (horn), Achilles Liarmakopoulos (trombone), and Chuck Daellenbach (tuba).
