Amber Huggett was born in Warren, Michigan with a love and joyful passion for dance. She began taking classes at the age of two at Rhythm Pointe Dance Academy in Shelby Township, Michigan.
From her early elementary years through high school, she danced with the academy and professional training division at Nashville Ballet in Nashville, Tennessee. She trained under the direction of Nick Mullikin, Paul Vasterling, Anaïs Chalendard, Kate Crews-Linsley, Christopher Stuart, and Jon Upleger.
From there, she went on to dance as a pre-professional trainee with Charlotte Ballet in Charlotte, North Carolina for two seasons. During her time there, she had the pleasure of working and training with the esteemed Patricia McBride. While in Charlotte, Amber performed soloist roles in Matthew Hart’s Sleeping Beauty, Balanchine’s Raymonda, and Balanchine’s Walpurgisnacht Ballet.
She then returned to her birth state and danced for a season as a trainee with Grand Rapids Ballet in Grand Rapids, Michigan. There she worked directly with artistic director James Sofranko and performed in Val Caniparoli’s Nutcracker, Devon Carney’s Sleeping Beauty, and Balanchine’s Serenade.
She then moved to Dayton and has spent the past two seasons dancing in the studio company here at Dayton Ballet. She has enjoyed dancing in Robert Curran’s Coppelia, Brandon Ragland’s world premiere of The Nutcracker, Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty, and Rhythm of the City. At the conclusion of the 2025/2026 season, she received the exciting news of her promotion.
She is thrilled to be going into her third season at Dayton Ballet – as a newly promoted company dancer.
