“With all the scary stuff we’ve been through in the past couple of years,” said Neal Gittleman, DPAA Conductor, and Artistic Director- Dayton Philharmonic. “I thought it might be fun to do a PhilharMonster show that was a little less tricky and a little more ‘treat-y’ and fun while enjoying great music. What costume (or costumes) will I be wearing? That, as always, is a secret.”
Audience members are invited to come in costume as their favorite animal or, if they prefer, more traditional Halloween attire. Music featured at the concert includes Williams’ “Jurassic Park,” Anderson’s “The Waltzing Cat,” and Saint-Saëns’ “Carnival of the Animals.”
Children’s activities, sponsored by Dayton Philharmonic’s Volunteer Association, begin at 1:45 p.m. in the Wintergarden of the Schuster Center. Activities, including a scavenger hunt and instrument petting zoo, continue until 2:20 p.m. Children participating in the costume parade gather at 2:00 p.m., with the costume parade beginning shortly thereafter.
Tickets start at $5 and are on sale now by phone at 937.228.3630, online at daytonperformingarts.org/tickets, or in person at the Box Office in the Wintergarden of the Schuster Center downtown Dayton.
