DAYTON, OH (April 5, 2022) – On Sunday, April 10, 2022 at 3 pm in the Mimi and Stuart Rose Auditorium of the Dayton Art Institute, the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra Principal String Quartet, along with DPO pianist Joshua Nemith and DPO violinist William Manley, will present Sunday with Schumann and Shostakovich, the second Chamber Concert of the 2021-2022 Season. The DPO String Quartet comprises four incredibly talented members of the Dayton Philharmonic: Aurelian Oprea, Acting DPO Concertmaster; Kirstin Greenlaw, Principal Second Violin; Sheridan Currie, Principal Viola; and Jonathan Lee, Principal Cello.

The DPO is grateful to be back performing live concerts in the beautiful Dayton Art Institute and has prepared a lovely concert of stunning chamber music for Dayton to enjoy. The afternoon opens with Sonata for Two Violins by Belgian virtuoso violinist and composer Eugène-Auguste Ysaÿe. Then, pianist Joshua Nemith joins for Robert Schumann’s delightful Piano Quartet in E flat major. The afternoon concludes with

Dmitri Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 7 in F sharp minor, composed in memory of his first wife Nina.

Celebrate spring by joining the DPO for an intimate afternoon of chamber music at the Dayton Art Institute.

About the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance
The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance (DPAA) was formed in July 2012 as the result of a groundbreaking and innovative merger between the Dayton Ballet, the Dayton Opera, and the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. Together, they are the largest performing arts organization in the greater Dayton community, with a mission to be the community’s indispensable source for traditional, diverse and innovative experiences in ballet, opera, and orchestral music. The vision of the DPAA is to transform lives through the power of music and dance. The DPAA offers a wide variety of performance and education programs, setting a new standard for artistic excellence. DPAA performances reach an audience of more than 90,000 people annually, and their rich arts education programming serves over 60,000 schoolchildren in 150 schools in the Miami Valley. These performances and education initiatives are made possible in part through major support provided by the Ohio Arts Council, Culture Works, the City of Dayton, Montgomery County and the National Endowment for the Arts.
