Bill and Wanda Lukens Chair
Chad Arnow has been the 3rd/Bass Trombonist of the DPO since 2000 and is honored to occupy the Bill and Wanda Lukens Chair.
A native of Florida, Chad has degrees (Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate) from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. In addition to his position with the DPO, he has performed with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, Columbus Symphony Orchestra, ProMusica Chamber Orchestra, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, and numerous other professional ensembles. An avid chamber musician, he is a member of the Elysian Trombone Consort, the Carillon Brass, the Dayton Philharmonic Brass Quintet, and the University of Dayton Faculty Brass Quintet. He has also played with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet and many other small ensembles.
Equally at home playing classical and more commercial/popular music, Chad has done over a hundred performances of touring Broadway shows, including Wicked, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, A Chorus Line, and Irving Berlin’s White Christmas. He has shared the stage with pop artists such as The Who, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Art Garfunkel, Manhattan Transfer, the Pointer Sisters, Burt Bacharach, and many others.
Chad lives in Washington Township with his wife, two children (one of whom plays in the DPYO!), and two cats.
