Jon Pascolini has been Assistant Principal Bass in the DPO since 1994.
He graduated from the Indiana University School of Music and began teaching string instruments in the public schools of Elmwood Park, Illinois, and Huntington, West Virginia, before earning a Master of Music degree in String Pedagogy from Ohio University.
Jon lives in Dayton where he maintains an active teaching studio of cello and bass students and is on the faculty of the University of Dayton as well as a participant in the Dayton Philharmonic’s SPARK education program.
He is also Principal Bass of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra in Charleston, and a section bassist with the Glimmerglass Opera Orchestra. He performs frequently with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra in Columbus, Ohio and at the Bach and Beyond Baroque Music Festival in Fredonia, NY.
Jon has also performed with the Virginia Symphony, Roanoke (Virginia) Symphony, Binghamton Philharmonic, Springfield (Ohio) Symphony, and in the Cooperstown Chamber Music Festival.
Growing up in Des Plaines, IL, Jon started his music studies on cello in the public schools of Elmwood Park. In his spare time, Jon enjoys cycling and golf.
While at Indiana University, he rode in the Little 500 bike race for three years. And if you have really sharp eyes, you may see Jon as a cyclist in the “Little 500” racing scenes of the movie “Breaking Away.”
