Kara was born in Winnipeg, Canada, and grew up in North Dakota. She attended Minot State University (ND) where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Violin Performance and then the College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati where she earned a Masters of Music Degree. Kara has extensive experience teaching violin and chamber music, has taught at the University of Dayton, and was the founding conductor of the Dayton Philharmonic Junior Strings. Kara is currently the School Director and violin instructor at The Piano Preparatory School in Beavercreek. When she’s not playing the the DPO or working at the Piano Prep School, Kara enjoys playing Candlelight Concerts in Columbus with the Cap City Quartet, and filling in with the Columbus Symphony and ProMusica Chamber Orchestra.
Kara has been in the Dayton Philharmonic since 2006, and swears that the 2nd Violin Section is the best section!
