This season, Ms. Henry makes her European debut as Desdemona in Verdi’s Otello at Theater Bonn conducted by Dirk Kaftan and directed by Leo Muscato. She also competes in the finals of the Paris Opera Competition. In the States, she joins Dayton Opera as Micaëla in Carmen and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra for Beethoven’s “Ah, perfido!” under Fabio Luisi. She also sings Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Milwaukee and Sheboygan Symphonies.
Recent highlights include her Metropolitan Opera debut in Die Frau ohne Schatten; the title role in Jenůfa with the Lyric Opera of Chicago under Jakub Hrůša; performances in Der Ring des Nibelungen with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra; La Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro (North Carolina Opera); Micaëla in Carmen (Florentine Opera); the Marschallin (cover) and Marianne Leitmetzerin in Der Rosenkavalier (Santa Fe Opera); and Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 and Strauss’ Four Last Songs with the Richmond Symphony.
Acclaimed for her interpretation of song and symphonic works, Ms. Henry has appeared as a guest soloist with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, and National Symphony Orchestra. In recital, she has presented a program of women composers with the Green Lake Festival of Music, as well as recitals with the Collaborative Arts Institute of Chicago and the Beyond the Aria series at the Harris Theater.
Ms. Henry’s artistry has been recognized with a prestigious Grammy nomination for Best Opera Recording, for her striking portrayal of Lucy Harker in the studio recording of the world premiere of John Corigliano and Mark Adamo’s The Lord of Cries at Santa Fe Opera.
A graduate of the Juilliard School and former Ryan Opera Center artist, Ms. Henry has won awards in the Musicians Club of Women Vocal Competition and the Opera Index Vocal Competition. She was also awarded the Lillian Caroff Mayer Award for outstanding talent and work as a part of Santa Fe Opera’s Apprentice Singer program.
