Lynn Rohr is a longtime member of the Second Violin section. She auditioned for Charles Wendelken-Wilson and joined the DPO in 1984.
She started playing violin in a school orchestra in Oxford, Ohio. Her private teacher in middle school and high school was Adon Foster, who was a Professor at Miami University and also a former Concertmaster of the DPO.
She earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Miami University in 1984. Prior to joining the DPO, she played with the Hamilton and Middletown Orchestras.
Lynn recently retired after 30 years of teaching, 29 in the Kettering City Schools. At one time or another, she was teaching in seven of the nine elementary schools plus Van Buren, Kettering Junior High and Fairmont High School.
Lynn and her husband, Steve, have two daughters who also have attended Miami University. Both girls are well-known area swimmers and earned swim scholarships to Miami University.
Lynn and her husband spent many hours volunteering with the swim team and received the YMCA Volunteers of the Year Award when their daughters were competitive swimmers with the Kettering Y.
She and her family are huge Disney fans, so they travel to Disney World frequently and also have enjoyed an Alaskan cruise. In retirement, Lynn’s plans include more travel and continuing to play with the DPO.
