Nadine Monchecourt is celebrating her 25th season with the DPO, joining in 1988.
She studied at the Eastman School of Music, Preparatory Department (Diploma with Honors in Cello) and the College- conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati (B.M., cello, and M.A., Administration).
Following her studies, she won fellowship awards from both the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Orchestra Association. Nadine performed many seasons with the Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to her DPO work, she performs with the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival, the Classical Ensemble of Good Shepherd Church and various freelance shows in Cincinnati.
Nadine also serves as the Executive Director for the Suzuki Cooperative of Cincinnati Public Schools, where she also teaches cello.
Most recently, she joined the DPO’s new El Sistema inspired education program, Q the Music, and teaches string instruments to third-grade students at Ruskin Elementary in a partnership with the East End Community Center and Dayton Public Schools.
Speaking of her career, Nadine writes: “My joy and passion is teaching children to become great citizens through the process of learning a musical instrument and being a part of a musical team.”
