Scott Moore is a native of Greenville, SC, where he began his musical studies at age six, studying with Dianne Pinner. In 2007 he earned a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Bob Jones University, studying with Achim Gerber, and then graduated in 2009 with a Master of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), studying with Piotr Milewski. Other influential teachers include Masao Kawasaki, Hai Xin Wu, Timothy Lees, and Gabriel Pegis.
Scott joined the DPO in 2013, after having served as a substitute/extra violinist with the orchestra for several years.
Away from the Schuster Center, much of Scott’s time is spent in music education. Scott is in his fourth season as a DPO SPARK musician, developing relationships with local teachers and their students, using classical music to teach and reinforce concepts being learned in their classrooms.
Along with his wife, Jessica, also a gifted pianist and violinist, Scott maintains a full teaching studio.
He also serves as Deacon in charge of worship music at his church in Pleasant Ridge, a suburb of Cincinnati. Scott is an avid home chef and enjoys sharing meals with friends. He and Jessica raise Jacob, Ethan, and Katherine under the close supervision of their cats, Lucy and Rhoda.
