Tzu-Hui Hung is a member of the Viola section of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, joining the DPO in 2017.
She was born in Tainan, Taiwan, and began playing the piano and violin at the age of 5 and then the viola at age 9.
Tzu-Hui earned a Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance from Taipei National University of Arts in 2010 and has won First Prize in several competitions in Taiwan. She was also a member of the Chimei Symphony Orchestra. She earned a Master of Music in Viola Performance from CCM in 2013 and has received a full scholarship in 2014 to pursue her Doctoral Degree in Viola Performance at CCM. Her teachers include Masao Kawasaki, Catherine Carroll Lees and Minyoung Balk.
At CCM, Tzu-Hui has won First Prize in both the Hindemith Viola and the Mozart Sinfonia Concerto Competitions. Before joining the DPO, she earned a one-year contract with the Grand Park Summer Music Festival.
