Shayna Steele Visits Dayton from the Big Apple to Jazz up the Holidays with the Dayton Philharmonic

DAYTON, OH (November 15, 2021) – On Friday, December 3, 2021 and Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 8:00 pm in the Mead Theatre of the Schuster Center, the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, under the leadership of Conductor Patrick Reynolds, will present Holiday Pops, the second SuperPops concert in the 2021–2022 season of the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance.

The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra invites you to a joyful celebration of the holiday season! Taking center stage with the DPO is Shayna Steele, who visits Dayton from the Big Apple to jazz up the holidays in the Gem City with favorite festive carols and dazzling holiday classics.

With a voice that London Jazz News says “unleashes enough voltage to light up the West End”, Shayna Steele has made her mark as an in-demand vocalist on stage and in the studio.  Having spent eight years as a Broadway ensemble member, performing in shows such as Rent and Hairspray, and six years in the background supporting artists like Bette Midler, Rihanna, and Kelly Clarkson, she stepped out on her own with the release of her third studio album Watch Me Fly. Her self-penned song “Gone Under” from that same album was personally selected by Michael League of Snarky Puppy to be arranged for their album Family Dinner, Volume 1. This song and Steele’s performance was the first single to be released on the Grammy Award-winning band’s album, which has now reached over 1.7 million views on YouTube to date.

Holiday favorites will fill the Schuster Center, including “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and Leroy Anderson’s famous arrangement of “Sleigh Ride,” and Steele will bring down the house with classics like “O Come All Ye Faithful” and the glorious “O Holy Night.” Shayna Steele and the Dayton Philharmonic dazzle and delight as they present the perfect way to kick off the holiday season in Dayton!

About the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance
The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance (DPAA) was formed in July 2012 as the result of a groundbreaking and innovative merger between the Dayton Ballet, the Dayton Opera, and the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. Together, they are the largest performing arts organization in the greater Dayton community, with a mission to be the community’s indispensable source for traditional, diverse and innovative experiences in ballet, opera, and orchestral music. The vision of the DPAA is to transform lives through the power of music and dance. The DPAA offers a wide variety of performance and education programs, setting a new standard for artistic excellence. DPAA performances reach an audience of more than 90,000 people annually, and their rich arts education programming serves over 60,000 schoolchildren in 150 schools in the Miami Valley. These performances and education initiatives are made possible in part through major support provided by the Ohio Arts Council, Culture Works, the City of Dayton, Montgomery County and the National Endowment for the Arts.
