DAYTON, OH (December 10, 2025) — Dayton Performing Arts Alliance (DPAA) has been informed that the Dayton Ballet dancers have voted to be represented by the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA).
We respect the dancers’ legal right to choose union representation and we value the artistry and dedication they bring to DPAA and to the Dayton community. DPAA honors the outcome of the vote and will now begin the formal process of collective bargaining with AGMA in accordance with federal labor law.
“Our dancers are extraordinary artists whose talent enriches the cultural life of our region. DPAA is, at its core, a partnership of passionate people working together. We respect the dancers’ decision and we look forward to continuing to create exceptional, inspiring performances together,” said DPAA President & CEO Patrick Nugent.
DPAA is the only organization in the United States that creates ballet, opera, and orchestra performances under one unified artistic structure. Our dancers, singers, and musicians are partners in a shared mission: creating exceptional artistic experiences for audiences throughout the Dayton region. We are deeply grateful for the ongoing support of the Dayton community, and we believe that Dayton deserves nothing less than the very best in the performing arts.
As the process moves forward, we do not anticipate commenting further. Our focus remains on delivering outstanding performances, including this season’s The Nutcracker, and maintaining a respectful, constructive working environment for all of our artists and staff.
