DAYTON, OH (March 27, 2017) – On Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 8 p.m. in the Mead Theatre of the Schuster Center, the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra will present The Music of Queen, the fifth and final concert in the 2016–2017 Dayton Freight Rockin’ Orchestra Series. Leading the Dayton Philharmonic on this extraordinary rock journey will be guest conductor Richard Sidwell, hailing all the way from the U.K. Associate Sponsors for this concert are The Hale Meyer Andzik Group – Morgan Stanley Team and Miller-Valentine Group. With over four decades of music and 18 number-one albums to their credit, Queen is recognized as one of the most influential British rock bands of all time. The Music of Queen: A Rock & Symphonic Spectacular was created in 2008 and comes to Dayton direct from the UK. It features a full rock band and vocalists from the London West End smash hit musical We Will Rock You, a show based solely on the music of Queen.
Returning to Dayton by popular demand, The Music of Queen will be brought to life on stage at the Schuster Center, with the full power of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and guest rock musicians and sensational vocalists joining forces to provide a musical experience second to none. “Simply stunning” and “breathtakingly awesome” are just some of the words used to describe this concert experience. Musical arranger and conductor Richard Sidwell has done an incredible job of expanding the original Queen arrangements for rock band to include a full symphony orchestra.
The masterful songs of Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Meddows Taylor, and John Deacon, including favorites such as “Somebody to Love,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Will Rock You,” and, of course, “We Are the Champions,” will resonate throughout the theater in a magnificent collaboration for one night only this April.
